Ashanti Douglas is also known as Ashanti and was born in Glen Cove New York United States 13 October 1980. She is an American songwriter, singer and actress. Ashanti started her career as an teen, and was ultimately signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. The same year, she was featured on the Fat Joe's What's Luv? The singer also appeared on the song by Fat Joe,"What's Luv?" Her tracks Foolish (number 1) as well as the track What's Luv! What's Luv? The second spot is ours. her special day right here. Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti as she's popularly known, was born in Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas her mother is an instructor in dance and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, her father is a former vocalist. Kenashia Shia is the younger brother. Douglas chose her name in honor of her father, who was a member of the Ashanti Empire that was in Ghana where women held power and influence. Douglas desired Ashanti to follow the same model. James was her grandfather. He served as the civil rights leader alongside Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. Her mother was able to discover Ashanti's talents by overhearing her singing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti was an actor in Spike Lee's Malcolm X from 1992, and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Ashanti has also been featured in a few music videos, such as K.R.S. - Act One's "MC's as if they don't" along with 8-Off Ghetto girl. Ashanti was wooed and signed by several label owners, including Bad Boy. She also had a few cameos in music videos. Ashanti continued to sing throughout New York, and spent her time in Murder Inc. studios hoping to land a major break. Ashanti first appeared as a background vocalist for Big Pun on the song "How We Roll". She also appeared in the Fat Joe song "What's Luv?" and Ja Rule's Always On Time. Her sample for the single that she released as her debut Foolish originates from the album of DeBarge, Stay with Me, a 1983 track. Ashanti's self-titled debut album was released in 2002 through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. record label. The Declaration fourth studio album was out on June 3rd, 2008. On the 16th October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released on radio stations as well as digital channels. She starred in the film Christmas in the City and as Latasha of Montclair's character in Army Wives. Her song Rock wit U was sampled by British rapper Aitch for his track Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
